Women in AI — the global movement
Women in AI (WAI) is a global non-profit working to close the gender gap in artificial intelligence through education, research, and mentorship. Present in more than 150 countries, it is one of the world’s largest inclusive AI communities, placing women at the core of AI creation and strategic decision-making.
Women in AI Tunisia is the official Tunisian chapter of this movement, initiated by Elhem Arfaoui Trad, Ambassador & Founder.
Our local mission
Women in AI Tunisia works to reduce the digital and gender divide in Tunisia. We firmly believe that artificial intelligence can only achieve its full potential when it is shaped by diverse and representative voices. Our organisation mobilises female talent to become central actors of the ongoing technological revolution.
Our Vision
An equitable Tunisian AI ecosystem where women innovate, lead, and transform.
Our Commitment
Supporting every woman, from student to seasoned professional, on her path to technological excellence.
Our Impact
Positioning Tunisia as a hub of inclusive and responsible innovation in the MENA region.
Why Tunisia?
Tunisia combines a dense pool of engineering and research talent, one of the highest rates of women graduates in STEM in the region, and a fast-growing tech ecosystem connected to Europe, Africa, and the Gulf. A mobilised diaspora of Tunisian tech experts — from Qatar to Europe and the UAE — reinforces this unique position.
By uniting academia, industry, and government under one strategic umbrella, Women in AI Tunisia turns this potential into a structured, multi-stakeholder platform where research and business exchange seamlessly.
